Mahanati Movie Review
Amidst Huge expectations, the much-awaited biopic of Savitri, Mahanati has finally hit the screens today and let\'s check out the review here.
Madhuravani (Samantha) starts investigating the life of Savitri, as a part of her job as a journalist. By that time, Savitri ends up in a coma. She wants to go deeper in Savitri\'s life and started doing a deep research, through which she came to know a lot of facts. She then starts penning her story and even she got to know the problems that she faced after falling in love with Gemini Ganeshan (Dulquer Salmaan).
The director Nag Ashwin is one of the biggest asset to the project. He helmed his directorial work his film. He once again proved that no one can ever pay this artistic tribute to Savitri than him. The director didn\'t afraid to present the Savitri’s dark secrets and narrates the film as to what happened in the life of one of the greatest actresses Telugu cinema has ever seen. Keerthy Suresh completely loved in the character. From stardom to her addiction to alcohol, she did a great job. She is especially superb in the second half and delivers her best in all the emotional scenes during the end of the film. Samantha is another biggest advantage to the film. For the first time she dubbed her own voice and did a great job. The other actors like Rajendra Prasad, Mohan Babu, Krish, Naga Chaitanya, Prakash Raj did a great job, irrespective of the duration of their roles.
The second half looks a bit serious by showing all the problems of Savitri, which might give boredom to the audience. All the fans of Savitri will definitely get connected to the film, but for others it\'s just a story.
The production values are top notch. From presenting the studios of Madras or the costumes in which Savitri is showcased, everything looks superb. Cameraman Dani Sanchez-Lopez gave his best. Especially, Samantha and Vijay Devarakonda’s 80’s set up looks quite good. Dialogues are neat and editing is decent. Coming to the director Nag Ashwin, did a great job. He did a lot of research and it is clearly shown in the picture.
It is a pure artistic tribute to legendary actress Savitri. Keerthy Suresh completely steals the show as Savitri and it would be an understatement if we call, Savitri herself took birth as Keerthy. She completely lived in that character. The director has succeeded in re-renditioning the iconic scenes from Savitri garu’s hit films and will definitely give retro feels to the audience of that generation.
